The US passed the Chips Act. $52 Billion to build factories on American soil, TSMC is building in Arizona not for efficiency for survival. The Arizona factories are already years behind schedule. Decades of knowledge can not be copied in five years. The dependency of Taiwan is not solved; it is just being managed.
TMSC’s founder called Taiwan’s position a silicon shield. As long as world depends on Taiwanese chips, attacking Taiwan means attacking everyone, the factory is the deterrent.
Armies win territories, Navies control oceans but the country that control semiconductors controls the future. The chip war is not about technology it is about who the modern world answers to.
